Into the Abyss - Lineup, Concept

"Into the Abyss" is a classic “Good vs. Evil” story that is inspired and loosely based on the Yakut people from Republic of Sakha. It is about two siblings rescuing their grandmother from their uncle who was overcome with greed with the help of a wise elder and spiritual beings from the Abyss. The main theme for this story is “Fear vs. Courage”.

Final Line Up. The art style takes inspiration from the late Moebius (Jean Henri Gaston Giraud) and Ching Yeh, an artist based in Taipei, Taiwan. Both of their works have a heavy emphasis on linework and details.

Ayaal, Abyss Fire Demon It is a fearsome demon know in the abyss. Until one day, when Taptalaana entered the abyss and was not frightened by it’s appearance. Ayaal then decides to befriend Taptalaana and aid her in her quest.

Bootur, Taptalaana's Spirit Guide Its main purpose is to see Taptalaana safe and not endangered. It guides Taptalaana on her journey to the Abyss. It was said that Bootur emerged from Taptalaana’s late mother, Yevdokiya’s grave and that it is her.

Kusteekh, Uncle He is a power hungry and greedy person, he wants recognition through the land of the Yakuts. Because of this he would kidnap his own mother and to use her as a sacrifice to the demons in the Abyss for ultimate power.

Mariya, Grandmother She is the head of the Gagarin Clan and is said to rule with a wooden spoon . She prioritizes the safety of her children more than herself.In order to protect her granddaughters, she went with her nephew, their uncle.

Tolluman, Ex-Shaman Used to be renowned and fearless Shaman and many would approach him to be apprenticed. He quit due to his previous mentee who disappeared in the Abyss. This trauma changed him for good. He relocated to the Tundra away from people.

Taptalaana, Younger Grandaughter She is currently a Shaman apprentice, however, she is constantly underestimated due to her young age despite. She usually makes rash decisions to prove herself worthy of being a shaman and can be very hot-headed.

Nurguyaana, Older Granddaughter She is very naive and just wants to be loved and given acknowledgment. Being naive, she is easily manipulated and influenced by her Uncle. She engages in her Uncle’s plan to get rid of her sister as she is competition.
